From 1st July 2007, all work and enclosed public places within England must be smoke-free by law. The smoking ban will apply to offices, factories, shops, supermarkets, pubs, bars, restaurants, membership clubs, public transport and work vehicles that are used by more than one person. Indoor workplace smoking rooms will no longer be allowed. Anyone wishing to smoke will have to go outside. Premises and vehicles that are to be smoke-free under the new law will be required to have no-smoking signs in place and displayed in a prominent position; failure to display signage will result in an on the spot fine of £200.
